Nixon Field Watch FAQs
What's the point of field watches?
Can a field watch be an everyday watch?
A field watch can absolutely be an everyday watch. Today, field watches are available in a wide variety of styles and materials, from leather to stainless steel. Most field watches are subtle enough to wear on a casual afternoon but dressy enough to wear with something more formal. If you're looking to wear your field watch every day, we recommend purchasing replacement watch bands that can be used to alter the look of your watch depending on the occasion.
When would you wear a field watch?
When you wear your field watch depends on your personal style and the style of watch you own. Stainless steel field watches might be better suited for formal outfits, while field watches with NATO straps more suited for outdoor use. But really, a field watch can be worn anytime and it's really up to you when you put it on!
How durable are field watches?
Field watches are by nature supposed to be durable watches. That being said, a field watches durability depends on how the watch is built and the way the watch is being worn.
You don't have to be an outdoorsy type to appreciate a rugged field watch. Nixon's rugged field watches capture the classic style but still have our signature attention to design and small details.
The classic field watch style started as standard issue equipment for the military. The watches needed to be easy to read and stand up to the rigors of life in the trenches. The designs were rugged but straightforward. Field watches are usually made with stainless steel cases, some come with matching steel bands, but one piece or canvas bands are popular as well.
Nixon's men's field watches come with both stainless steel bands and canvas bands. A stainless steel case field watch has a bit more durability, but the canvas band field watches shed a little weight. They come in a variety of sizes, so finding the right one for your wrist is nothing to worry about.
There's something to be said about making a tool for a specific purpose and then refining it to perfection. Nixon's traditional field watches are such a tool. They are designed and built for accuracy and style, regardless of what field you happen to find yourself in.
